I had a little bit of hesitation going with Blurb originally because I had read some not-so-great reviews. But honestly, this blew my mind away. It looks like it could be belong at Barnes & Noble (specifically talking about quality). The colours are vibrant, details pop, the cut of each page was exactly how I specified. I was worried about subtle things showing up, like image textures or submission credits, but it all seems to be in perfect order. The only cons are results of my decisions to go with cheaper options, like the matte cover showing fingerprints or the pages being a little thin.
I know it’s a little bit on the pricey side because I’m not going with a mass producer. To help with that, if you enter 2014BOOKS at checkout, you’ll get 15% off your total. This offer is expires April 30th, 2014 so get on that quick!

Derek looks up from his book from where he’s nestled away on the ledge of a window. The source of the noise is still somewhat down the corridor yet, but the footsteps are fast and uneven. He sighs and tries to make himself invisible. It had been such a lovely evening; the castle was quiet, he was almost finished with his book, and the almost full moon was shining on his skin, making him feel content, even if a bit restless.
The source of the running comes into view, and the kid’s eyes land on Derek immediately. He skids to a stop, arms flailing around to balance himself, but he just manages to almost fall over. Derek sighs in irritation.
“Dude, what are you doing here?” the boy asks. Without his house robes, Derek can’t figure out where he’s from, or what year he is. He looks vaguely familiar, but Derek can’t place him.
“The better question would be what are you doing here?” Derek asks. He snaps his book shut and glares at the boy. “As Head Boy, I demand you tell me why you are wandering the corridors at night, away from your house.”
The boy snorts. “As best friend to a Prefect, I demand to know why you are in the corridors at night, away from your house.”
The crease in Derek’s brow deepens as he scowls even harder. “I’ll have you know, as Head Boy I can do – “
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” the boy interrupts. “Derek Hale, Head Boy, captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, golden boy of Hogwarts; I got the memo.”
Derek jumps off the ledge and steps closer to the boy. The boy just watches him with an amused smirk. He’s familiar, and Derek inhales slightly, catches the scent of too many sweets from Weasley Wizard’s Wheezes and the smell of broom oil. Derek glances at his hair, brown but almost bronze in the moonlight, and his eyes. Derek has to physically pull himself away from those eyes.
“You’re a Gryffindor,” Derek states.
“Oh, you’re a psychic, too!” he exclaims. He leans closer and Derek gets a whiff of grass and leather. The boy whispers, “Does professor Trelawney know?
“You’re the Gryffindor Keeper,” Derek blurts. He can see it perfectly now, the two Chasers, McCall and Argent, always hang around with a third kid, skinny, spastic. McCall and Argent were also Prefects, which aligns with Stiles’ previous comment. “Stiles, right? I didn’t recognize you without your head gear.”
“I’m on my way to the kitchen,” Stiles says, hooking his thumb over his shoulder. “I can grab some tea leaves for you to read. Or I can steal – I mean, find a crystal ball just innocently lying around somewhere.” Stiles grins as he rocks back and forth on his heels.
“I’m not a psychic,” Derek snaps. “I don’t even take Divination.”
“Me, either. Thought it was total crap. Much more of a Charms guy, myself. And somehow ended up in Double Potions with Slughorn, but I blame my crush on Lydia for all those years. Even though I should probably hate her for breaking my heart and forcing me to come to terms with my own, as she put it, ‘deeply buried sexual confusion’, I should really thank her for helping me do so well on my O.W.L.S. She’s the express reason my marks are as high as they are now.”
Derek just blinks, not even sure where to begin trying to understand that conversation. “I like Care of Magical Creatures,” he says stupidly. “And Herbology. Professor Longbottom thinks I’ve got natural talent.”
"What is it with Derek, and the torture? Does..I mean, does he enjoy it?"
“Hmm, I think a little bit of both…”

"You know, sometimes there’s other things you wouldn’t think would be a good combination end up turning out to be, like, a perfect combination. You know, like two people together, who nobody ever thought would be together.. ever"
